What Listeners Will Learn

Fort Collins is known for its outdoor lifestyle, vibrant culture, and welcoming atmosphere, but the true heartbeat of the city comes from its people. Teachers, coaches, volunteers, and leaders create the fabric of the community and bring meaning beyond the breweries and bikes. How do individual stories and small acts of love create a lasting impact on the city?

According to Jeff Faust, who founded and leads Love FoCo, community transformation begins with honoring and amplifying the stories of its people. By asking simple yet powerful questions—where people come from, what they love, and how they serve—he believes we can weave connections that strengthen Fort Collins. His mission is not just about recognition but about sparking action, encouraging others to find small ways to love their city.

On this episode of The Love FoCo Show, Jeff Faust shares the vision behind his nonprofit, the inspiration for starting this podcast, and the framework for telling stories that matter. He also invites listeners to participate by sharing the show, suggesting guests, and exploring ways to get involved through Love FoCo’s community initiatives.

[1:00] Jeff Faust:
Hey friends, welcome to the very first episode of The Love FoCo Podcast! My name is Jeff Faust, and I’m the founder of Love FoCo, a nonprofit here in town all about loving our city one life at a time. That’s the heartbeat behind this podcast, too.

When I first moved to Fort Collins, I realized something pretty quickly: if you want to fit in, all you really need to do is drink beer, ride a bike, and buy a dog. Do those three things—even if you’re not a native—and you’ll start to feel like a local.
But beyond the breweries, the bikes, and the dogs, what makes Fort Collins truly special is the people. Our city is filled with amazing individuals—teachers, coaches, volunteers, business owners, nonprofit leaders, and even our next-door neighbors. These are the people who are quietly, and sometimes boldly, making a huge impact.

It’s the stories behind those people—their individual and collective stories—that really begin to shape this city and make it such a great place to live. Whether we know it or not, our lives are being woven together here in Fort Collins, and those stories need to be told.

Here’s the framework of each episode. I’ll sit down with someone from Fort Collins and ask three questions:

  1. What’s your Fort Collins origin story?
  2. What do you love about our city?
  3. How do you love our city—what are you doing to make a difference, and how can others get involved?

It won’t always be so formal, because the best moments usually happen off script. But that’s the general framework, and the conversation will wander where it wants to go.

My hope is that you’ll be inspired by the incredible people we get to meet, and that you’ll feel more connected to this community we share. I also hope you’ll find your own way to love this city alongside these amazing individuals.
